Caught on Tape: A newborn baby was rescued by the Chinese authorities in a student dormitory at a university in the city of Linyi in Shandong province-north western China. This happened around 5:00 am last September 14.
It was believed that a student mother wants to cover up the pregnancy, urging her to flush the baby girl down the university's toilet.

Luckily though, the baby got stuck in a pipe and her screams attracted some students, who immediately called firemen to rescue the infant. Prior to this, about this same incident happened last May 2014.
According to International Business Times(UK Edition), it is becoming usual to see newborn babies being abandoned due to disabilities/defects or it could be that their parents cannot afford to raise them.
Chief economist of the Asian Development Bank, Wei Shangjin, reported that about 30% of Chinese (410 million out of 1.37 billion) still live under the poverty line, even though China has made considerable progress in alleviating poverty.
Wei added that in order to improve the condition of millions of Chinese, the government should foster the development of social insurance and subsistence security systems that are accessible to the poor.
Some outraged Chinese netizens showed their disgust on this incident on Weibo, some blaming it on China’s one-child policy which may have prompted the young mother to abandon the baby girl because a boy is normally preferred. Many, however, slammed the young mother for lack of values.
